Dr. Shashidhar V. Karpurmath is the Head of Medical Oncology at Vydehi Cancer Center. He has 14 years of experience as a Medical Oncologist following his superspecialization. He completed his undergraduate education at JN Medical College, Belgaum, in 2001. He pursued post-graduation in Internal Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, in 2006. He completed his superspecialization in Medical Oncology at the esteemed Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai, in 2010.

Since 2010, he has been working in the Department of Medical Oncology at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center and has significantly contributed to establishing the department at Vydehi Cancer Center, Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center. He is a member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and an active participant in the Collaborative Medical Oncology Group (CMOG). Dr. Karpurmath has undergone training in Hematological Malignancies at Giessen University in Germany and has also received training in basic research from the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

He serves on the Institutional Ethics Committee at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center and has represented the department at various national and international oncology conferences as a moderator, panelist and chairperson. Dr. Karpurmath has worked as a Principal Investigator and Co-investigator in numerous oncology trials. He manages a full spectrum of hematological and solid malignancies with special interests in Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, Lung and Prostate Cancer, pediatric solid tumors, bone and soft tissue tumors, and Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation.
