Patients with advanced cancers are also prone to develop thrombosis or clots in different vessels . More commonly it is in veins such as leg veins and these clots can embolise and lodge in the lungs creating a life threatening situation . We regularly perform clot dissolving procedures by accessing the thrombosed vessel using catheters and give lysing agents within the clot . We also sometimes place a filter to prevent clots from migrating to the lungs.
